Nokia E61 Smart Phone

author alang

Seems like no interesting news in mac emulation or desktop customizing world, I will write a review on few gadgets and websites that might interest you. First article in this series is about Nokia E61 Smart Phone

The Nokia E61 smart phone is more like a miniature laptop computer than a mobile phone! This business phone from Nokia incorporates everything you will need to run the office on the move including email and HTML internet browsing. The QVGA wide 320 x 240 pixel screen gives this phone a landscape style viewing area for displaying its possible 16 million colours. The Nokia E61 could be the model to take on competitors in the smart phone arena such as the Blackberry 7130g Smart phone or the Palm Treo Mobile Phone range.

The Nokia E61 has a QWERTY style keyboard for easy data entry into the built in business software applications. Some mobile phone reviews claim the E61’s keyboard is not as functional as some other smart phones on the market, we feel it is just a matter of getting used to the keyboard layout. Most business documents can be handled with the fully featured Symbian Office suite including wordprocessor, spreadsheet, PowerPoint presentation editor, PDF application and more.

Having a wide landscape style screen gives slightly improved internet browsing than in some other smart phones. The Nokia E61 has various internet browser capabilities such as HTML, XHTML and WAP 2. You can connect to the internet with the E61 in various different ways including using the built in WiFi WLAN modem.

Emailing with the Nokia E61 is easy using POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP email protocols. With push email capabilities and the option to connect to your email server via GPRS, 3G or WiFi receiving your important work emails while on the go is easy. As well as email the E61 has some advanced messaging features to send your SMS, MMS and SML messages. The Nokia E61 also has the ability to send IM’s as well as communicate via bluetooth and infrared.

Memory wise the E61 has 64MB flash memory onboard with an SD memory card slot to expand the usable memory upto 1 Gigabyte and beyond. In the sound department the E61 has a voice recorder, voice dialler command, MP3 player and supports streaming audio. As well as many audio options the E61 can handle MPEG4, RealVideo and 3GPP video files.

We feel the Nokia E61 stands out from the business mobile phones on offer today with a massive array of features packed into a stylish looking smart phone. With advanced calender functions and contact synchronisation with MS Outlook this smart phone has everything the businessman would need.
