Leopard Updates

author alang

Developers lucky enough to have a copy of the Leopard beta are reporting that there are a multitude of small updates that will be included in the final release.

The first of those is that DVD Player will now include an HD option in the preferences for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. It will also include the option to add cover art. One of those features will be a new version of Quicktime (Thank God! I think they needed that more than a new Finder…). Leopard will allow fullscreen mode without having to upgrade to Quicktime Pro.

Sun’s ZFS announcement is looking to be true. Developers that have looked over Leopard’s code thoroughly are telling us that it is run on ZFS. It will be read-only, non-default out of the box. Sorry, ZFS fans.

iChat will now also be able to send SMS text messages to contacts with cell numbers. I assume that this is due to the iChat UI found in iPhone’s chat application.

Those are all the new features that were reported today. Enjoy. Well.. in four months or less enjoy. iPhone on Friday.

*waits patiently for Leopard*

Leopard is probably the only reason why I don’t have a Mac at this very moment. (It would be kind of a waste to buy a Mac now and then regret doing so when Leopard comes out).
