So Gizmodo is reporting that they were told by a Cingular (Don’t they mean AT&T?) business sales representative that the data plans they will offer for the iPhone will go for thirty dollars. That isn’t expensive at all when you consider data plans for HSDPA Card plans go for slightly more and that AT&T is the only cell phone company offering the iPhone. So kudos to them for keeping the price more than reasonable when they could definitely charge much more and get away with it.
In other news: Wilson Rothman of Gizmodo claims that he was accidentally on a Microsoft email list and received an email announcing that a new product out of Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices division will be launched tonight at 12:01AM EST time (that’s 11:01PM for Chicago and 9:01PM for LA.. figure out your own time and watch the tech blogs).
For once, Microsoft is doing something in the style of Apple and they are releasing a product without a prior announcement, very unlike the pre-hype about the Zune, whose sales (or lack thereof) have come under fire lately. They aren’t even saying what it is in the internal email! All that’s said about it is, “something totally new coming out of the Entertainment and Devices division, and it’s going to change the way people interact with technology.” We’ll see about that.
