Thumbs up The WindowWarp (Genie Effect) explained
I found a nice website explaining how the WindowWarp (Genie Effect) works:

Also, if your wondering why the Aladdin's Lamp (Genie Effect clone for RKLauncher) is running so slowly, it may be because...

Your running this on an nVidia based Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

Most computers that run the Aladdin's Lamp effect without problems have a ATi based GPU (e.g. "Radeon x300", "Radeon 9200").

I am not 100% clear on why this happens, but it may have to do with the drivers.

"But I still don't get why it runs so badly on my computer!"

Let's break it down here.

nVidia drivers are better then ATi ones, but there might be something in the ATi drivers that allows the Alladin's Lamp effect to work faster and more efficiently.

I did some testing a while back, and noticed that with modified nVidia drivers (OMEGA Drivers), the performance was slightly faster.

So nVidia users, get OMEGA Drivers if the Aladdin's Lamp effect is running painfully slow (OMEGA is also available for Radeon GPUs).

I have a Radeon x1600 256MB on one computer, and a GeForce FX5200 128MB on another, there is a huge speed difference.

But, since the Radeon x1600 is years ahead of the GeForce FX5200, it isn't fair to say that Radeons run this effect faster.

So I did some testing on my friends computer, with a Radeon 9200, which is almost the same as the GeForce 5200.

My friend's computer was exactly the same as mine.

Same brand (Dell Dimension 2400, a.k.a. CRAP), same CPU (Intel 2.56GHz P4), same motherboard (Intel i845G), same Hard Drive (74GB 7200RPM).

So the Radeon beat the GeForce FX5200.

No matter what window I opened up, the Radeon would smoothly render the Aladdin's Lamp effect.

I did not use any modified drivers, did not change any system settings on either computer, etc.

(If this is completely outdated and there is already a solution to getting the Aladdin's Lamp effect to run smoothly, please post it here).
