Programs like OBjectbar and RKLauncher can hide the start menu.

You might not want to do that unless you know exact where your files are

You don't wanna do that. Even though you might think the windows taskbar sucks it's actually quite useful so why not hiding it temporarily via the apps Nylock10 specified. Just add them to your startup list so the taskbar remains hidden right from the time your desktop loads.

Sorry to give this a little bump.

There is/are little apps to hide the taskbar. If you look over at aqua-soft in the third party application forum I believe there are links.

Will update this later as I'm unable to access the site at the moment.
