I'm running with a Vista GUI theme,for Windowblinds has ran out. Now, I am confronted with the issue of having the application icons "decorating" my titlebar and taskbar.

Is there a way to remove them?

(Yes, running on Vista)

I don't know if things are any different on Vista, but on XP there was no other way than to use WB or ShellWM or to manually reshack each application you want to remove the icons on. This would be a very tedious exercise and I wouldn't recommend it.
For firefox and Thunderbird there's an easier way than reshacking (http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/tips#app_icon), just follow the instructions there and use a transparent icon for replacement. A similar way also exists for certain other apps including uTorrent (change main.ico in %appdata%/uTorrent/ ) but this is very app specific.
What happened to Windowblinds? Did the trial end?

Yes, it ended. So I'm stuck. Nonetheless, I managed a good desktop here.

You could try ShellWM and see if it works properly on your Vista system. And you could at least try reshacking your most frequently used software and Firefox, that will help at least partially. That's as far as you can go legally, I'm afraid you have no other option.

PS: You did manage a good desktop there. I'd use it, if I weren't using mine. ;P

I don't care if I have to select each application, I run, at max, about ten different ones only.

As far as I know, ShellWM is a WB like app, so you'll need to search for specific shellwm themes. I haven't used it as I have WB, so I really can't give specific help. On the other hand, if you want to use your current desktop and just remove application icons on specific apps, then get this tool (http://angusj.com/resourcehacker/) and read a bit on how to use it from here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...al&btnG=Search). That should set you going, any other queries, ask here. I can help a bit with reshacker stuff. Good luck on whatever you try,

ShellWm may/may not work, you'll have to test that out yourself.
The reshack method would most probably work, again I can't say for sure because I haven's used Vista till now. But I'll recommend this if you're feeling a bit adventurous about the whole thing,
