Picture within Finder window
I'm not sure how to explain this. I doubt there's a emulator out there for this, but could you guys all google around? (not that I haven't)? Okay, here's the attachement.

Re: Picture within Finder window
Sorry maybe I'm just stupid but it won't work. Thanks for the really fast answer and good find. I just don't see how it works without any hacks or anything.

Re: Picture within Finder window
The feature is built into XP, only the interface/front-end for this was removed (it used to be present in Win98. Hurrah to Microsoft for removing it! Just what they'd do ). This app does nothing but create a file called "desktop.ini" in the folder you want the wallpaper for with the path to the picture file. This can be done manually too...More information, here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...ing/custom.asp

This is the syntax if you want to do it manually...

"
[ExtShellFolderViews]
{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}

Paste this into a textfile and name it as desktop.ini. Paste that into the folder you want, with the path to the picture and it will be set as the folder background.

Re: Picture within Finder window
so all you do is just put it in that folder? it is not working... sorry I'm not trying to sound like a n00b, but I've tried it like 8 times and every option but it's still white. It's ok with me if it doesn't work, I was just wondering. I have desktop.ini in the folder, with the following code:

************************************************** ************************************************** *****]
[ExtShellFolderViews]
{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}
{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}

P.S thanks for the syntax.

Re: Picture within Finder window
My bad. I just lifted the code from the desktop.ini file in the folder I'd customised and pasted it here. Most of it is superfluous. The correct syntax for this is, therefore:
"
[{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}]
IconArea_Image=C:\My Documents\My Pictures\Blue Hills.bmp ----> This is just an example

"
This is where I got this information from. You can doublecheck from there, too. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,10...2/article.html

Re: Picture within Finder window
You could just use a program called 'folder tweaker', that's what I use.
