Recreating the Macintosh HD
First off, this is what we're looking for: http://www.osx-e.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=3052&c=507

Here's a description I was going to use for that upload, but was too long:

I decided to try and emulate the Macintosh HD by first hiding the original My Computer icon from the desktop [through TweakUI which can be downloaded on Microsoft.com], then I created a new folder and named it "Macintosh HD" and changed its icon to the HD image used in Mac OS X. Next I created shortcuts to several folders (mainly Program Files, WINDOWS, C, D, and Shared Documents) and renamed them to match the Macintosh HD. Then I iconed them accordingly and threw them all into this folder.

If more explanation than the above is needed, just ask :-p

(P.S. - One step further to the feel of Mac OS X.)

Re: Recreating the Macintosh HD
I Can.
In order to do that, you can either use avedesk (not really needed) or you can alter it in properties. Right click anywhere on your desktop, and select properties.
Select the Appearance tab and then go to the Advanced button in the bottom right corner. Then, in the "Item:" box, select "icon" instead of "Desktop" . T
here, change the size of your icons to anything that pleases you. There. Now, to space them. Select icon spacing (vertical) in the same box as before. Change that to any # you want, experimenting to get the right mixture.
Also, if you have several rows of icons on your desktop, (a couple rows), go to icon spacing (horizontal), once again in the same box. Change that to almost the same as the vertical icon spacing setting.
There. Now all you need to do is make them look cool!!!!

Hope I could help some and that you could understand me. If you didn't, then either pm me or just quick respond to this.

Re: Recreating the Macintosh HD
I tried the things mentioned in the tutorials....but only the icon size has increased......the spacing remains the same
I changed both horizontal and vertical spacing, but it has no effect, and the spacing value reverts back to the original when i open the properties box again
What do i do?

Re: Recreating the Macintosh HD
D'ja click apply? lol Anyway, that's probably not the problem. Just try avedesk, much easier and faster. Cleaner too.

Re: Recreating the Macintosh HD
The spacing has no effect at first. You need to then right click your desktop and goto "Arrange Icons By." Then uncheck the "Align To Grid" part and then repeat this and check the "Align To Grid" part again. Or you can just leave it unchecked as Mac OS X naturally doesn't have the alignment always on, you can align them but it doesn't stay on.
