I have the iconpackager theme for it downloaded, but is there any way that when I click it its highlighted mode looks like the OSX way.

You can use AveDesk for that, use "SelectionBox" mode in the pdlShortcut.

I downloaded avedesk 1.3 and attempted to open the pidlshortcut.dll but it says I don't have the right program to open it. please help.

What? Pidlshortcut.dll is an icon plugin for Avedesk. You are not supposed to OPEN a plugin, of course it doesn't open. Once its in the correct Avedesk folder, go to Avedesk control panel, at the menu choose "Desklets" >> "Add..." Then another window pops up. In that window find "Pidlshortcut" and click "Add" on the right.

That adds a highly customizable shortcut to your desktop. Right-click on the shortcut and press "Desklet Properties" and in the first tab down the bottom you will see "Effect" drop-down menu. Click on that and choose "SelectionBox".

Then click "Apply" and "OK".

Done.

Thanks Zartheit. i did what you said but it only added that one shortcut with selectionbox. all my other shortcuts are the same. what do I do?

What? WHat do you mean?

Replace the other shortcuts....? I guess you could right-click on the desklet and choose "Duplicate" and then customize the new shortcut so it leads to a different location.
