I need to nuke my old hard disk drive. But how?

I'd like to smash it into pieces with a sledge hammer, but I think I can do more.

What would be the most effective thing?

Shooting with a gun

Setting it on fire

Boiling it

Keeping it stored somewhere

Post a suggestion. I'd like something fun to allow this thing to rest in pieces.

U could attach it with a cable or a big rope, then go with a bike, a motorcycle or a car, and carry it behind the vehicle for one hour.

get a sludgehammer and beat the s*** out of it. then get some paint thinner and soak the hardrive with it. get a lighter and go to town

Just keep it for the history, don't kill it... I myself collect old CPUs, HDD, memory cards, that kind of "precious stuff", and then I can easily remember the past.

What about getting a bag of dry ice and setting it ontop of the HD? Or better yet, just open the bag and drop it on the HD and wait for them to melt and see how much damage they caused.

Why dont you just format it and keep it for future use? You never know, you might need it someday
