Hello,
I am going to be getting a new mac computer around X-Mas. I have been looking into modles, and I don't want to spend more than $1400 for actual computer, moniter, and mouse/keyboard.
I am leaning towards the Mac Mini, because I am afraid of the built in one computers [iMac] because if the screen breaks, you are screwed.
Should I upgrade the Mac Mini [with the super drive] to make it very powerful [and maybe wait until it gets the intel chip] and buy a non-apple screen or should I just purchase the iMac.
Help/Suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Also, I am only going to purchase my computer from Apple.com or the store.
Thanks,
Matter

Even with the Mac Mini you are not getting the full experience of a Mac. I suggest got with a iBook, of iMac. Just make sure you get the iCare plan.

I suggest you to buy G5. I know, it costs too much (maybe more than $ 2,000) but I saw some G5s for not more than $ 1,500.

Hm, how would I not be getting the full Mac experience?
And also another question, besides the power, what else is different between the iBook and the PowerBook?

I don't think Mac Minis support all of the effects (e.g. Genine, I think and some other things.. Not too powerfull.)
I'd get an iBook. Or you can always buy the $1000 dollar Intel Mac for Devls and get a copy of Mac OS X86 (I think its $1000, don't know too much about it). You get the OS x86 from Apple. It is all legal.

Aha, I see.
But I don't really see a big difference between the iBook and the Power Books. Why are there two different model lines for what seem to be similar labtops?
And any ideas on where I could get Intel Mac for Devls? Or anymore info on that?

The difference between an iBook and the Power Books is in the CPU, HDD size, and FSB, as I know. Power Book is just more powerful.

If it's between the iBook and the PowerBook, I recommend the iBook since there really isn't much difference between the two. If you're looking for a good desktop, do the iMac.
