hey guys...i know this might be a stupid question but im in a rush brefore i go back to school!

my sister had her computer crash (the whole operating sytem was missing) this weekend so she bought a new computer. Because her computer crashed, she lost all 500 songs in her itunes! She still has the songs on her iPod so is there any legal way to put the songs from her ipod onto her new computer?

If not...that would really stink lol. Any help as soon as possible would be really great! She has to go back to school soon and it would be useful to get this done before then! Like always - Thanks!!!

Next time backup everything, I've ment music, data, documents. Hovewer, I don't see a reason of buying the new PC just because your old one crashed as long as it's problem with its software.

Oh and may I ask why it is necessary to transfer all songs to the new computer if she can play them through the iPod on the computer anyway? For example, I have 30 GB of music but I have no music on my computer because I just play the songs through the iPod when it's connected to the computer.

However, there is a way but it depends if you can sacrifice one significant thing, if you don't mind, you can do it without any additional software. For that open the drive that your ipod is in (G: \) for example, then go "Tools" and "Folder Options", then "View" tab, find "Show hidden files and folders" in the list and check that box, then click "OK". Now in the drive folder there should be a hidden folder called "iPod-Control", in there there is a folder called "Music" and in that folder there are tons of Folders with names such as "F00", 'F01" "F02" and so on. Bingo, you found the treasure, a.k.a The Music. You can just copy the files in the "F...." folders onto your HDD. But there is a downside. All the music files are renamed. For example instead of "Stairway to Heaven" you will see something like "DWDT.mp3". However, even though all the files are renamed they still contain the " Artist/Original Name/Album etc " information.

Not sure if this is any help to you, but it's just something I know.
