problems with finderbar add on
Hello I am new to the post so bear with me I am having problems with the current version of finderbar addon version 1.3 I did download andinstall it and when I rebooted my the whole bar flashed and disappeared.
here is my post from another board that I did not recieve an answer for yet .
Please help I am just working from my object dock application to launch and monitor applicaion activity at the moment .
Hello I am frustrated to say the least. I had it the way I thought it should be ,instead of fixing the clock problem I have a bigger one which was posted by another member. I rebooted with the setting without the mac clock and then the whole finder bar flashed and disappeared and now I dont know what to do. I tried to trouble shoot with what you suggested I did delete the previous version with the finderbar ini files backed up- reinstalled previous version and still have the same problem
Yikes I am so confused I am ready to just delete both versions what I am doing wrong ?
Also I did try what some other member suggested about tclock2 and that did not work either it crashed my explorer each time I deleted the process from task manager and what site was it from?I retrieved it from an unofficial site and I think it is corrupt also .
thanks for all the help you have given me thus far I surely appreciate it. any further advice on what to do would be appreciated also:cry:
Thanks
Kftrainer

Re: problems with finderbar add on
try deleting the background.bmp file in your finderbar program directory. It should reset it and make your finderbar now appear on your desktop. If this doesn't fix the problem,if you could attach a screenshot of the problem so I can better see the situation you are in.

Re: problems with finderbar add on
hello avt85,
Thanks I am now displaying the finderbar as it should be- the problem was with my object dock app setting ( hide taskbar and Wala up shows my bar
now I am having problems with Mac Search I did go to the proper thread for MacSearch but what was listed that I do did not work at all if you have any suggestions I would be apprciative -Here is what I did
I installed Mac Search on computer unzipped and ran it , and then it worked fine and then i went and change the perferences to the hot area in taskbar and lo and behold it disappeared but it shows up in the Task Manager so it is workiing but I recently found out that I have no hot area on my finderbar ( property of the default (aqua) skin) so how do it get into properties to change it back
and I wondering how to get the bottom panel from the previous version of Finderbar for Object dock k so that my applications wont cover my OD without me constantly resizing the browser windows to see it. It is not included in the current version and does the bottom panel work with this version.

Re: problems with finderbar add on
the exact same thing happen to me...but usually you do have a hot area. If you just click right below or right on top of your taskbar(the area on top/below the system tray icons depending on where your toolbar is position in your system) the hot area should pop up. If not, try pressing ctrl+space and if that doesn't work, search for the macsearch entry in your registry and delete it.

Note - make sure to backup your registry if you do decide to go that far.
Hope this helps. And with your finderbar problem, I don't quite get what you meant by it.

Re: problems with finderbar add on
Hello avt85
Wow thanks it did work -thank god I did not have to delete it from the reg ,that would of been a nasty affair. Now I have another issue -when I got it restored and tried a Word search ,The Mac Search crashed my explorer which make me apprenhensive about using it .Any suggestions-BTW in reference to the finder bar I am having problems with restoring Finderbar ,Mac clock and Search after explorer crashes- is this normal due to the fact of it crashing vs just rebooting computer.?

Re: problems with finderbar add on
Regarding your issue with macsearch causing explorer crashes, Im not quite sure what's causing it. I've used macsearch before but didn't really found the need for it as *to me* it was just another unnecessarry program which the simple search function using *F3* could do anyway. Hence, I've been trying to look for a way to just install for a dummy spotlight icon without any programs connected to it but if you really want to use such a functionality there are other spotlight clones out there aside from macsearch. Just give it a good 'google'.

And with the restoration of macclock and finderbar after an explorer crash I, too, same the similar experience. My solution was to 'end the process' of macclock and finderbar from the task manager and reload them again. It's a bit tedious, I know, especially if you have explorer crashing all the time. Other than that, I haven't really found any alternatives to that problem.
