I don't know why Windows has such a bad rep. Mine never crashes and the only BSOD I ever got was a 3rd-party driver issue that couldn't possibly be good old Win's fault.
BTW, the last hdd wipe I was forced to do was when I was experimenting with an OSX install on my PC. Lost all my data for that one,
