Multi-Plugin allows users to change the iTunes skin, hide the menu bar, change the main font or title font, window opacity, and an option to hide iTunes from the Alt + Tab window.
This is the stable version of Multi-Plugin for iTunes 7.
Click the image to download, or use a previous installer with Web Update.
If you installed the Multi-Plugin for iTunes 7 Preview, you have to uninstall it by replacing QuickTime.qts with the original one, or simply reinstalling iTunes or QuickTime.
Changes in version 2.5.0:
1. A LOT of bug fixes. I can’t event count them.
If Multi-Plugin didn’t work for you before, you should definately try it now.
2. Vista compatibility. Some features might still not work in Vista, but generally, it works.
3. Added iPod Hebrew support for all the iPods except the 2G iPod nano.
4. Added an option to allow downgrading iPod software.
5. Added Preview button in the Colorize dialog.
6. Many skins are included.
A couple of notes to skin developers:
1. So far, very few skins had the progress bar glitch fix included.
Don’t be lazy, just copy the necessary images from the Mac OSX skin.
2. Please check if your skins look good after colorizing, and if some elements look wierd, use the NoColorize option in SkinData.ini to exclude them from colorizing.
3. Don’t forget to check compatibilty with both left side and right side buttons.

Appearance Options

You may choose a skin from the list or choose the default skin.
You may also change the color of your skin using the Colorize button.
If you want to refresh the current skin, you may press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S in iTunes.

Hide the menu:
To resemble the look of iTunes in Mac OSX, you may hide the menu.
To use it again, you can press Alt+F in iTunes, or just click it’s previous location.
Also, if you use Stardock ObjectBar, you can use the iTunes menu from there.
Change main iTunes font or title font:
You may enter a font name in the edit box, and it will change the font according to it.
The title font can only be changed if a skin other than “Default” is selected.
Don’t show main window in the taskbar and the Alt+Tab window:
Using this option will hide the main window from the Alt+Tab window.
You can choose to hide it always or only when in Mini Player.
Change main window opacity:
Using this option you can make the main window semi-transparent.
Use the slider to set the opacity level you want.
You can choose to change the opacity always or only when in Mini Player.
Note: Selecting this option will make the main window draw faster, even if the slider is set to 100%.
Current Track Options
Change the main window title according to the playing track:
You may change the title of the iTunes main window while a track is being played.
Formatting tags (listed in the help file) are supported.
Copy track information to the clipboard when a track starts playing:
If you check this option, track information, in the format you specify using formatting tags, will be copied to the clipboard when a track starts playing.
Create a file with information about the current track:
Using this option will create a file named CurrentTrack.txt in your iTunes installation folder when a track starts playing.
Export artwork from the current track to a file:
Using this option will create a file named CurrentArtwork.jpg in your iTunes installation folder when a track starts playing.
This file will contain the artwork of the currently playing track.
Note: The file is called CurrentArtwork.jpg, but it’s not necessarily a JPEG file. Most programs recognize the image type by it’s content, so that should not lead to any problems and it will remove the need for detecting the extension of the file.
Compatibility Options
Allow WindowFX to add a shadow to iTunes:
Usually, Stardock WindowFX does not add a shadow to iTunes. Using this option changes this.
Make programs recognize iTunes as Winamp:
Many programs can get the current track name and artist from Winamp only. Using this feature, iTunes will be recognized as Winamp by most of those programs.
Fix media keys functionality:
Many keyboards have player control keys which don’t work well with iTunes. This option may fix the problem.
If one mode doesn’t work, try choosing another one. Different keyboards react differently to the modes.
iPod Hebrew Support:
You may use this option if you want your iPod to display hebrew.
In order to enable it, download the latest iPod Updater from http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/, run the Hebrew iPod Updater which can be downloaded using the provided button, and enable the option for iPod Hebrew support.
This Hebrew support solution uses the official iPod Hebrew firmware, so it should not void your iPod’s warranty.
Other Options
Don’t create Unknown Album folders:
If you consolidate your library and let iTunes organize your music folder, iTunes will make a folder named “Unknown Album” in the Artist folder for tracks that have no Album tag.
Using this option prevent’s iTunes from creating those folders and makes it place such files directly in the Artist folder.
Suppress the scripting warning message:
If you have used scripts that interact with iTunes, you may have noticed the warning message that appears when you try to close iTunes and there is a script still running.
Using this option will make that message not to appear.
Note: If you use this option, do not close iTunes when a script is changing track information or does any other writing operations. Doing so will probably result in corrupt files in your iTunes Library.
Change the full screen visual effects resolution:
By default, iTunes lowers the resolution in full screen visual effects for better performance.
You may change this behavior using this option.
Enable memory saving when minimized to tray:
If you enable this option, along with the “Minimize iTunes window to system tray” feature found in the Advanced tab of the Preferences dialog, the amount of memory iTunes is using will drop significantly when you minimize iTunes.
Foobar2000 passthrough:
Using this option will make iTunes play sound through the Foobar2000 engine.
You must have Foobar2000 0.8.3 or later for it to work.
This feature improves the sound quality, but it has several limitations:
1. Foobar2000 will not run simultaneously with iTunes when this option is enabled.
2. All the iTunes sound processing features will do nothing as long as this option is enabled.
3. After checking this option for the first time, you might hear an echo when listening to music. Restart iTunes to fix it.
You may include |No Foobar2000| in the Comments tag of a track to force it to play using the default engine.
This way it’s possible to play tracks from the Music Store while Foobar2000 passthrough is enabled.
Don’t stop playing when iTunes is being closed:
By default, closing iTunes stops the current track from playing.
With Foobar2000 passthrough enabled, you may change this behavior.
Note that only one track will continue playing - not the whole playlist.
EvilLyrics Integration:
If you have EvilLyrics installed, you will have a “Find Lyrics” option when you right click a track.

Installed iTunes 7 and not only has the skin functionality vanished without a trace but the Volume Logic sound plugin no longer works. Seems Apple has done some major rejigging of the software. They’re also trying to make the iArt add-on redundant also, with the ability now to download album art either manually or automatically.
I’ll keep checking back to see if you release an update! Thanks for what you’ve done so far - it’s brilliant and I hope you’ll be able to update.

I can’t get this to work with iTunes 7
I always get the message “procedure “CryptAcquireContextW” in DLL “MPlugin.dll” was not found. Any ideas? I completely uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime twice and installed multi-plugin 2.4 afterwards, but i always end up with the same problem. After I uninstall multi-plugin iTunes loads again, but I miss all the great features from multi-plugin.

I think much of the bugs are due to iTunes 7 sucking, not mplugin. Personally i rolled back to iTunes 6
Yeah, something is not right > and I’m guessing it’s to do with iTunes. Everything was going buggy, and the skin and iTunes just didn’t want to get along. I can’t stand the default windows iTunes skin, so I too rolled back to iTunes version 6 (thank goodness for DVD backups!) I don’t recommend the upgrade to anyone yet.

Im Tomas, i installed multiplugin it works fine, but after 2 day, quicktime began to quit alone and the skin was bad.
Just wanted to let you know that since I’ve updated to iTunes 7.0.1. multi-plugin works perfectly again, the “CryptAcquireContextW” bug is gone.

Here is how you uninstall this.
If you have Mozilla Firefox use these directions.
1.First open up Mozilla Firefox and Click on Tools.
2.Now click on downloads.
3.Now click on the download that says: Multi - Plugin.exe.
4.If it opens follow the instructions, if it does not look at number 5.
5. You will now have to go to the website you downloaded it from and download it again.
6. Now open it and follow the instructions

There is not yet a version compatible with itunes 7.1.1, so if you want to keep using this google aquasoft multi-plugin and you can download version 7.0 with MP. as for 7.1.1, just be patient.

Hey Johnny B, maybe you should spend a couple of days “behind bars” awwaiting a trial by a slow-moving judge before you go deciding that people should be put in jail for writing code. Despite the bizarre harshness of your angry comment, I do believe there are ample warnings about the changes MP makes to your system before installations… PLUS if all you want to do is uninstall MP, just upgrade to the newest iTunes, DUH! and for God’s sake, be nice. People offer these services free… you ARE welcome to design your own or just not download y’know?

to unistal the plugin you need to run the setup once more, then you’ll see he ask you if you wish to delete it.

The only way to fix this for the moment is to remove multi-plugin. :/

Ok, I just read through all the comments and I’m kinda guessing that even though the download says, “This is the stable version of Multi-Plugin for iTunes 7″ it can’t work with anything latter than iTunes V7.0.0.2 (or whatever the first iTunes 7 update was). I know this because the download info was updated in January of 2007 and the last person to have problems with the Multi-Plugin being compatible with iTunes 7 was in October of 2007. I have been updating my iTunes every time there is an update available. I now have iTunes V7.5.0.20 and would really like to get rid of the bland skin. Is there any way I can keep up to date as to when there is an update for the Multi-Plugin that actually works with iTunes 7 and later, like a notification or something, or has it been updated and is it working yet?

Yes they are. Localhost was tired of changing the code for each new update to itunes that Apple released and that too without any payment in return. You’ll have to use an older version or not use this plugin at all.

i have had the same problem with the regenumvalue, but i have read that there is no version right now that works with itunes 7. so i got itunes 6 (i really don’t care what version i have as long as i can orginize my ipod and play music) but now i can’t find multi plugin 2.2 which does work with 6. does anyone know where i can find a link to download mplugin 2.2?, i have looked everywhere.

ok so this program does not work. end of story. dont install it because it will mess up your itunes to the point where you cant even run the program.
!!!FOR ALL THOSE TRYING TO GET RID OF IT!!!
-uninstall itunes from your system.
-the go into program files and delete the itunes folder completely (do not delete the itunes music folder for your documents. this will cause you to have to re-upload all your music) deleting this folder will get rid of all the crap that was installed from this program. also dont forget to empty your trash can.
-then go to the apple downloads and install any itunes except the most recent version.
-once the program is installed go into your itunes music folder where all your files are stored and move all your recorded libraries to another location for the time being.
-once you have your libraries moved open itunes and update it to the most recent version.
-after installed you can move your library files back to where they origionaly were. this will allow itunes to recognize all your music files and folders previously loaded.
hope this helps you all. it took me 4 hours to figure it out.

I had same issue here. Here is what I found;
Simply uninstall & reinstall i-tunes.
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > i-Tunes [Remove].
Than go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and download the latest i-Tunes version again.
Your music shouldn’t be lost [The full library should be saved at: C:\Documents and Settings\...\My Documents\My Music\iTunes [you should see the library.itl file inside there].

Gawd. I’ve wasted 3 hours of my time trying to put on skins to my itunes only to discover that it won’t work. In fairness to the localhost, his program worked well with previous versions of itunes. Unfortunately, he hasn’t done any upgrades. So much of this one.
after reading some of the comments im not sure that installing this is worth the risk… can anybody share there experiences of using this with itunes - 7.6.1.9 ?

Just don’t download it. I tried with the most up-to-date iTunes and it failed to open the program at all. I ran the MPlugin.exe file again to uninstall and then deleted iTunes.exe from my Program Files folder. Then open Programs and Features (On Vista) and go to Uninstall or change a program. Select iTunes and hit repair. Back to normal!
every time I download it, it opens in quicktime and it says its not a quicktime movie file. any help please!?!?!? I have looked everywhere and every time I download it it does the same thing!!!!!!!
