FlyakiteOSX is a transformation pack. It will transform the look of an ordinary Windows XP+ system to resemble the look of Mac OS X. The installer simply automates the process of replacing critical system files, setting registry tweaks, and installing extras such as cursors, sounds, visual styles, etc.
In case you are not happy with the results of FlyakiteOSX, everything is completely removable. Just run the uninstaller from the Start Menu or from Add/Remove Programs.
FlyakiteOSX does not contain any spyware or ad-ware of any kind. All files needed for FlyakiteOSX are stored in the Windows directory in a folder named ‘FlyakiteOSX’ that is hidden by default. All registry values for FlyakiteOSX are written to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FlyakiteOSX.

This… peace of software ruined something in my system and now I cannot turn my folder icons to the default yellow folder look, they keep in that badly designed blue layout.
Try to make a new release that doesn’t messes up with the system so deeply, cuz I can not restore my folder icons, even with the restore feature in XP!!!

I download the program and it doesnt run. why? it just puts my computer into hibernation mode.
Its the main feature of flyakite osx to change the system icons in windows DIRECTLY, not with some kind of program, that must run in the background. Anyway you have a backup folder C:\WINDOWS\FlyakiteOSX\Backup, where all the original exe and dlls. lay in. OF COURSE YOU MUST HABE ADMIN RIGHTS DURING INSTALL / UNINSTALL: i HAVE “MACIFIED” DOZENDS OF COMPUTERS; ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM

Works great but for some reason it comes up and wont open itunes at all it says something about missing a dll code i think…can anyone help because i love it but i have to have my itunes…lol…thanks
1. create a blank icon at the dock, right click on that icon then click “Dock Entry Property”, at the link box (below title) click browse and find the directory of iTunes. Mine looks like this
C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe

Then that has nothing to do with the program. There is something wrong with your itunes download and u need to reinstall it.

They are Dells and I have limited access. I cannot restore the computer..the whole thing is messed up. I need help. I also tried un-installing it and it just said ok…then it was still there, I tried again and it said “This has already been un-installed, would you like to remove it?” I click yes…and NOTHING happens.

hey i download flyakiteoxs v3.5 and i installed it on my pc which is windows2000 and when i uninstall it my systems all crashed , i can’t controal any thing ( my address bar gone , quick start not working , all things in start menu not working any more !!! ) i think he wrote something in my dll system and when he restore them , they became like factory setup . my msn plus gone daam i need help to fix this
Wow emad, The description for Flyakite OSX clearly says it is for Windows XP. Then when you attempt to install it the software again tells you it is only compatible with Windows XP ONLY!
It’s pretty amazing that you overlooked all of this and installed it on a Windows 2000 system. If you ever upgrade to XP, Flyakite OSX works like a charm.

This is really nice, but it really doesn’t give you the full OSX experience. Because it’s still windows xp.
to get more of a full feel of OSX try removing tour icons by right clicking on yer desktop, go to arange desktop icons, uncheck “display desktop icons”.
once you have done that try download yahoo widgets. it comes with a few widgets but you can download more.
also make sure you have installed EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! on the flyakiteOSX program

This skin/theme is exellent. I get the nice apple GUI and basic gui features and I get the great Windows OS. This is why I like Windows XP. Lots of cool programs.

I just installed it and got problems with the MSN live, everytime I open it runs fine but when i click on the msn it desappears and you can see only the shadow of the program.

I’m running Windows XP Professional on an AMD Sempron 2600 and I tried to install this program on my PC. It was a nightmare after installation because it almost brought my system to a complete halt. I consider it lucky that I could uninstall the program.

Very cool programme. I also had an issue with itunes ver7.02. Solved it by uninstalling itunes and the uninstalling the skin included with flyakite. Then reinstalled itunes only. Works fine now.

legendary, I have tried a few of these OS X Skins, and this one is truly flawless, and not too Memory Hungry either.
This is the much cheaper alternative (for me right now) to owning a mac, sure it wont run MAC ONLY software, but i love my programs ive got. until i get a mac that can run mac and windows programs, flyakite OSx is for me.

I had the same problem with my iTunes 7 after install…I went back and uninstalled that iTunes multi-plugin and now it works fine. Hope that helps

WTF I agree this is a nice replacement for the crap XP UI, but anyone who thinks it makes it perform anything like OSX is a card short of deck.
OSX is unix based ie stable, fast & efficient

some curiousity… in the picture that show from this (windows xp) to this (mac osx), the looks of windows xp is also different from original xp? (for example, the right side of the taskbar, had silver color, while the original ones have the same color with the rest of the taskbar).

I love it!! Had minimal problems @ install, cos I forgot to turn off Scumware protection, but it works great!!! Its worth reading about it first, and picking the option you want to install… the QUICKLAUNCH bar emulator thingy (there are TWO different ones as options) didnt work so well for me, so I nuked that part. I put it on a Fujitsu A3110 Lifebook w/ Win MCE, its not a problem. The Lifebook is white just like a MAC anyway… nobody will even know if I dont want them to. No real functional difference, but the added memory resident apps (4 or 5) could add to lag on an older XP install…. rally have to have the thing tuned ahead of time, or it’ll slow down older bloated installs. Again… I love it so far!
Since its made of a few different programs (indipendant), each one has options, skins, and plug-ins.

If you are having problems with itunes, then reverse this mac emulator, then begin the emulator again, except when it gives you the check list on what to put on, uncheck ITUNES. While you are at it, you can take out some other stuff that you don’t need
I am running it for some time now, and I found it pretty cool. However i had to unload Y’z Shadow from startup, since it won’t remove the shadow from previously closed applications!

yea i had problems with installing itunes 7 too. However, i know why. its because flyakite OSX v3.5 by default includes the multi-plugin for itunes 6. so when you instal flyakite, and you have itunes 7, uncheck the multi-plugin option. then after the installer is finished and you restarted your cpu, go to aqua-soft.org and search for the multi plugin for itunes 7
I installed this on my computer, just make sure you dont try and start in safe mode…
As it replaces critical system files that a pc needs to do this.
Hence my computer freezing on startup of safemode and resulting in me having to restore and losing all of my files…
a good program just rememeber… no safe mode!! =D
Super cool and it does seem to speed up XP a bit. I have it running smoothly on a 500Mhz PIII computer with 128Megs SDRAM. I used TinyXP Pro and Flyakite3.5 and I have no regrets! I wish a clock docklet was included, as I’m not sure how to use/install docklets yet, but I did use Yahoo Widget Engine to add cool stuff to the desktop.

I really like this program, but I ended up losing the ntoskrnl file in the C:/Windows file. When my mom fixed it, it came up to the menu, and asked for my brother’s password. My brother doesn’t have a password! So we didn’t type anything in, and clicked enter. It came up to his desktop and then went back to the menu again. We shut it down then turned it on again, and now it just comes up to a plain black screen. What do I do?!?! Please help! Thanks!

I don’t get why you all whine about when you uninstall it, it deletes some old hag off your computer, It was clearly written on the start of the setup, that you have the option to create a system restore point, if only you’d bother to go to create a restore point, you’d have the same status before you had the setup, problem solved.

Had a problem uninstalling the software I understand that there is a liability on installing this software but if you really do not like it you may have to reinstall windows or at least some of the components because when you write may .dll files from windows it deletes them once you uninstall them. I tried to uninstall it and found that I could not use the taskbar on windows so I am again installing the software to see if that fixes it. Very good write on the software though minus this one major flaw.

hey, the skin looks solid but it doesnt put my windows into the bar like a mac does. That is the coolest feature. i have the check box checked to make the thumbnail representation and all that. it worked once when i first opened it and only with i tunes would it minimize it into the bar.. can someone help me out???

Heya, I think this is totally great because I’ve been wanting a Mac for a very long time and their totally not affordable for me because my dad refuses to spend as much on a notebook, and this totally helps out. It’s a bit of a self-denial but yeahhhh. Anyway, there are no problems, but can there was this Mac toolbar initially, the one which enlarges when you scroll over its icons? But on my 2nd time of reboot I cannot see this bar anymore! Can anyone help?

Since this is after all, the Mac Emulation resource, my first article will detail what I find is the best way to transform your Windows XP/ Vista PC desktop into what I feel is the closest I have ever seen to a Mac desktop on a Windows machine. In the summer of 2006 I decided that I was not satisfied with user interface that was standard on Windows XP, or at least the look and feel. The blue-orange-green and the silver-orange-green themes that come standard on Windows machines felt to me like a little kid attacked the monitor with a box of Crayolas and didn’t know the correct colors for items. Like coloring grass red and the sky brown. Anyways, this eventually led me to http://crystalxp.net, a great resource for non-Mac emulation Windows customization. Everything on that site looks very clean and it is all very stable. The first thing I downloaded was a bricopack (which by the way are great ideas) entitled Vista Inspirat. It looked nothing at all like Vista, but it looked a hell of a lot better (and honestly, more professional) than XP’s standard interfaces. My quest for the perfect user interface led me to Mac OS X. I could not afford an Apple machine at that time so I decided to emulate the Mac OS X UI. That idea led me to here. On this site is where I first read about Flyakite OS X 3. I looked at the provided screenshots and I could barely tell there was a difference between a desktop masked with Flyakite and Mac OS X itself (later on though, I would discover subtle differences that only someone as picky as me would notice or be affected by). I downloaded it and never looked back. On the installation menu, it gives you total customization of what items to install. I recommend leaving everything checked for total Mac emulation, except that for some reason the standard installation includes two dock programs (RK Launcher and ObjectDock). The one that looks most like the Mac dock is RK launcher, so keep the RK Launcher box checked if you decide to download and use Flyakite. The attention to detail that the creator of Flyakite OS X paid is nothing short of mind-blowing. Even Solitaire is given a total makeover. The whole interface is transformed to Aqua. Even the boot screen is changed to the Apple boot screen if you choose that option. There is no stone left unturned. It is very stable with no bugs that I could find. Though, never ever use it with a 64-bit Windows machine. Your machine will crash indefinitely. This made me curious as to why Mac was supposedly so much better than Windows, so I decided to some research. I started using the iMacs that are in the computer lab at school and was suprised at how impressed I was. Around November, I decided I was ready to make the jump. I was going Mac. I would have to wait until January because that is how long it would take to gather the money around for a Macbook. In the meanwhile, Flyakite and eventually Launchy fully prepared me for my Mac experience. When I ordered my BlackBook, they told me it would take two weeks to ship, so I decided to take that time and download the WindowsBlinds trial and the Leopard skin that is provided in the downloads section of osx-e so I could get used to the control buttons being on the left side instead of the right as they are in Windows. The WindowsBlinds trial was 90 days, but that was no big deal because I would only need 8 or so. By the time my BlackBook arrived in February, the interface was totally native to me. It took no time to learn the differences in interfaces. That enabled me to jump right into learning how to use the important programs like iPhoto, Garage Band, iChat and Mail. So that is my Mac emulator-turned-switcher story. What’s yours? Are you an emulator? Are you a switcher? Are you a (eww) Windows Fanboy? I want to know your stories. This website is such a huge part of my transition to Apple and I still visit it daily. Now, my spare time is spent playing the insane amount of freeware available for Macs. After putting this program on my computer, it took away the hibernate and standby option from my computer so I always have to shut it down. Will anyone help me.

Seems like most folks love it… pretty much like I did the first hour or so. Then, the probs started.
I cannot live without a functioning iTunes & MSN Messenger. So if you are like me, don’t even bother to install this program. It will scare your ass into believing you’ve lost all your fab tunes.
Tip: Run system restore (preferably to the day before you installed FlyakiteOSX). That seemed to solve the file problems the recommended ‘uninstall’ could not. Adios mi amigos!

If you want itunes to work, than you can’t choose the itunes multi plugin on the setup. It also may take away the hibernate option if you install and uninstall it too many times. On my computer, it took away the hibernate option and slowed down my computer even though I have windows xp and it made my Itunes stop working so I just used system restore and I started working again. If you want to try this out, you should try it on something like Microsoft Virtual PC with windows xp so it won’t install it to your normal hard drive but it will install it on a virtual hard drive. Once again, don’t install the Itunes multi plugin or itunes won’t work.

I recently downloaded the FlyakiteOSX. Everything seemingly went fine. Then I tried to open up my Itunes. It said could not find entry point. Can not find link to library dll. Any help on how fix this problem would be much appreciated.

Flyakiteosx comes with a really cool plugin for iTunes called Multi-plugin. The problem is that it only works with iTunes 7.02, NOT 7.1 or 7.2. So either you downgrade iTunes or don’t install the plugin.

its alright it slowed down my computer and crashed it, i was lucky, i restored it, make sure computer has enough ram at least a 512 mb because if you put set the visuai to the mac style with low ram, it wont have enough physical memory to support itself

Flyakite is very intresting. Just one thing…iTunes. I’ve found a way around that problem, whilst installing flyakite, check all the coponents you want to install BUT… after checking everything in the softwair folder, open the folder and uncheck iTunes Multi-Media Plugin 2.3.1. Check everything else exept that iTunes part. Also in the RK launcher, it’s best to not rename Windows Explorer into Finder.
Overall, I give Flyakite an 8/10.
I love Flyakite OSX. I had it installed for over a year. But untill now, when i switched back to windows XP. I started having problems. My Windows Media Player wont work. Some other important softwares dont work. When I see the error logs that they created. All stated that the dll’s that they changed in the latest version of flyakite osx screwed up the process of actually starting up the software. I am not sure what is the exact reason.
I even tried it with installing the softwares again but it still wont work and i installed the flyakite osx even then it wont work. I am pretty cautious on what i install on my computer so there is no chance for other softwares to screw it up.

It looks great BUT: DO A SYSTEM BACKUP BEFORE INSTALLING WITH YOUR SYSTEM RESTORE UTILITY, because uninstalling simply hasn’t worked for me. All of the icons and dll modified have stood there… I dont mind too much because o prefer these icons as a default much more than my xp system ones… but some user32.dll has been damaged and now there are several microsoft routines that do not wan’t to work anymore… Guys be careful and do a system restauration point before installing this. I thought it would simply do it for me , but IT DIDNT!!!!!
i’ve been using this for 3 days now and i say it’s GREAT! although, like all transformation packs, its not perfect but it really really made me HAPPY!
i’m on xp media center edition and media center works here. the only thing odd that happened was that my D partition had a Music folder background image after using media center. at least i got to use media center as opposed to other transformation packs that makes me restart just to close media center.

I have the solution too all your problems. when u install flyakite it changes something. which screwes up all the applications to launch.
Problems that I had was that it didnt launch the calculator / media player / itunes / even system restore and many more apps / hell i couldnt even install any apps. But i found an alternative. I dont know how old your posts are but if u all are still interested. Just message here and ill get back to u.

It’d be great if you knew an alternative to reinstalling Windows.

After reading the comments, I know this is a brilliant program, but my not-so-brilliant action caused me a disastrous problem. I KNOW you can help me (how’s THAT for positive?)
Although I am an intelligent person who is very computer savvy–built my own, add components, programs, etc. (not bad for a woman of 70), because it was weeks before I decided to install it, I absolutely forgot what FlyAKite was intended to do. Ergo, I panicked when I saw the Apple on my PC at start up. (HERE’S WHERE THE STUPID PART COMES IN) I immediately stopped the startup, performed a system restart with GoBack, and restored my PC to go to a previous time. (Since I say ’stupid’ so often in this missive, you are not permitted to use the word–think of a better one!!)
Afterward, I ran three different PC repair programs, but now my PC acts like it’s constipated–jerky movements, time delays between selection and actual follow-through. O.M.G. I really created a mess… all because I WASN’T PAYING ATTENTION!!!
I screwed up BIG time, Oh FlyAKite Creator!
1) Do I have a hope of repairing my PC?
2) Will reinstallation take away the boo boos?
3) If I were to run FlyAKite again, will that clean up my (OTHER) mess?
I am sending this to you via my ‘actual’ Mac, which is why it didn’t take me three days to write it.

I love it v3.5 is great! I WAS going to get a mac mini and charge it. Hopi hopi danki Chris Kite! I am running winXP Home SP2 512mb AMD Athlon 2800+ (old I know) The install was a breeze -quick and easy. I recommend to any winXP users tired of the same old look. I thought creating restore points before installing any new software was common sense? We are talking about a Windows product…duh. In case you forgot the install has a check box to create a restore point for you…now wasn’t that nice of them?!
It misbehaved one time, I tried to do the HD clean utility from Microsoft, and then it never booted Windows XP and all of my files were gone. But something tells me i GOT to use it, but its awsome, try it, but backup your data!

I think this should work for windows Vista… Try it out… If something happens, just restore it… During installation of this software, you may chose to create a restore point so that you may restore your computer in something may happens…

Fly a kite made my windows give me a user32.dll error with shell 32.dll it was an illegal relocation. The window hotfix didn’t fix it. The program is cool, but I had to uninstall because couldn’t get rid of error. Now windows works perfect. Hope you guys fix the bug!

Aren´t it time to update Flyakite? really need to include objectbar in installerpack + phanter theme in the pack.
i’ve been using it since v2.0, updating when new version came out. run it on AMD 64 3200+ overclocked a bit + 3 Gb RAM. the latest version works just perfect without any bugs and crashes. i use it with finderbar, objectdock installed separately along with other “imac” software - 3RVX, rainlender, v animator etc. no way it replaces original mac system, cos’ mac is not only about glammy icons and skins. you really have to fine tune it to get it work as you like, but when done it looks and works smoothly!!! cannot look at original windows interface any longer ;))))))
PS yeah, its high time its updated to v4.0!

no. it will ’skin’ or change the color of all windows menus buttons bars etc of entire system, all installed apps including winamp. functionality of windows xp will not change.

There is only a little problem, every time I install it, the start menu bar, including the Start Menu button and all the buttons and windows are not in this design, the background, etc. is in Flyakite, but not the full OS, what could I do? It was in Windows Classic Style before I installed it. The computer it was installed on has Windows XP SP2.

I really like this program and I dont want to uninstall it or system restore anything (at the very lest because of the apple logon if nothing else. plus I have a really good skin on windowblinds that works with it perfectly [I found with most other mac skins that the shadow is never quite right, but with this skin I found it has just the right depth]). Anyway, I do have a very annoying problem which is, every time I start I get these two messages: winssnotify.exe - illegal system DLL relocation, and, cfd.exe - illegal system DLL relocation. I am a computer novice and have no idea what these messages mean (that is, I think I understand what they mean, but, I do not know how to remove them or how to rectify the problem). It is the only problem. There may be other problems such as the itunes not working but I do not use itunes that much and it really was no trouble for me to just unistall itunes. Also, I never use my desktop items (I have them permantly hidden).
Could someone help with this problem, if not I will have to system restore, and I really dont want to do that.

this is da best software. i just installed it and it works perfectly nice. you just have to make sure that you make appropriate selections when installing it. it works nice and fast for me. although not all features of mac are available, it is hard to note them. congrats and salute to the makers.

I’m running windows on a mac using parallels. I wanted the pc windows to look like the mac windows and it worked a treat (lets face it, if you buy a mac and hve to run windows stuff on it you still want it to look like a mac!) Only prob, I keep getting a user32.dll relocated in memory error because shell32.dll is changed???
try re-install using the 48×48 icon option, not the 128×128…

I tried this on Windows Vista.The only thing that happened was that it logged me out. SO i restarted. Tried to install again, and then it logged me out. HELP PLEASE!!!
don’t you ever read the instructions, this was never meant for vista!!! probably you’ll have to re-install/repair vista from your cd…

when i run this program there is a noisy sound because acces to spysearch is denied. so i still use it without installing “software” part. poor me.

Try doing this:
1) Click the Apple icon.
2) Go to “All Programs” -> “flyakiteOSX” -> “Software” -> “ObjectDock”
It should pop up and look exactly like it did when you first downloaded it. You’re going to have to add all of your old icons to it again.
How do you get the maximizing and minimizing buttons to be on the left side? Only my iTunes does this

installation was 80% okay. nice look & feel. but my AVG free wouldn’t load because it’s memory address was relocated. so i decided to return things back to what they were.
big problem.
when the XP theme came back up, clicking the shortcuts didn’t start the applications (in fact, all the apps in my Startup directory didn’t start). i even tried install/uninstall as suggested in the support forum, but same results.
doing a system restore didn’t work either (the message being “no changes were made”).
i had to restore my registry backups to fully restore my previous windows XP settings.
don’t get me wrong, i think these MacOSX emulation apps are great. just make sure you can get back your Windows if and when you want to.
Yeah, actually there is a way to put a REAL Mac OS X Leopard on a PC.
There is a new archetype-independent emulator that lets you put any kind of other OS (i.e. Linux, Mac, Solaris, etc.) onto your current OS. It is called PearPC. Google it.
Remember, it is very slow and hasn’t been perfected yet but many people are working on it.
One last thing to remember: If you want to put Mac on there, you’re going to need the installation disc ($130.00 off the website).

Hi,Just installed Flyakite & just as quickly took it off. No offense this is an awesome program with some kick ass effects. Problem is iTunes did not and will not work now.
Error message I get :-

This software is very good ,but one thing I have a problem is AVG anti virus on my computer,because flyakite osx migh relocated the system DLL user32.dll my question is :Where are they relocated to? Can I take it back to the right place,or may me I can have the right question ask to AVG people to solved this issue?

i have uninstalled the program and deleted all the files from program files but then after i have rebooted my pc it is still MAC.OS and i jut dont know how to make it windows again becasue everything is MAC

i got ur information from a chinese news paper, they discribe it very power full, so i just try out, eventually i a cool stuff, it looks something different from the original XP : P
some time depend on the user platfom, if they use to XP, ask them to change mac, they will think something new, eventually they can’t accept. i would advice them to back up the pc before they use it. else don’t complain others ppl hard work.

You wouldn’t loose any files if you uninstall and re-install iTunes, It’s seems that everyone has the same problem, when I installed Flyakite, I had to unistall iTunes, Flyakite sucks, I rather get Styler and IconTweaker. It’s the same thing. Bye

Is package is useless! When I uninstalled from by PC, it deleted an application & I need to re-install Windows, it also appears that has a trojan. I have used Flyakite 3 and I was pretty disappointed on this version.

don’t install this if you ever want to get your PC back the way it was before. uninstall causes near total system failure.
only a system restore can help at all, but if XP does a series of updates after you install this piece of junk you may not be able to roll back anymore.

Hey i was just wondering does this program work on the Windows Vista Home Premium? if So, How do i operate it i don’t understand. i download it and then it shows 6 items such as skins software tweaks and some other things which one do i click which ones do i not click and once that happens then what do i do. and one time my computer restarted and the mac mouse button the wheel the sounds and the wall paper came up but no boot screen or anything else please help me !! I want to state the issues I had with Flyakite 3.5
- I had to unistall and re-install iTunes.
-I couldn’t create or save movies on Movie Maker
-My Anti-virus said that a Throjan was found on the installing packager
- When I un-installed from my PC, there was still remainding of icons in my PC, I couldn’t get rid of the icons on “Help & Support Center”.
-I nver could use the iTunes “Multi-pulgin”
